What is CBD?

What is THC?

Cannabidiol , or “CBD”, is a major active component of cannabis that displays exciting medicinal properties.  It is non-psychotropic, meaning it has no “high” characteristic and in fact can counteract the psychotropic effect associated with THC.  CBD boasts anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety, anti-psychotic, anti-depressant, anticonvulsant, and neuroprotection properties.  It aids in lowering high blood sugar levels and stimulates the immune system.  Since receptors that interact with CBD are found throughout the body, medical applications of CBD extend to a wide-range of conditions and symptoms. This includes treatment of arthritic pain, gastrointestinal conditions, high blood pressure, mood-disorders and fatigue.

Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, or “THC”, is the most predominant of the many active compounds found in cannabis and is largely responsible for its psychotropic effects.  It has many medical benefits that include analgesic properties effective for pain relief, as a sleep aid, as an anti-spasmodic and in eliminating nausea.  THC is especially effective in managing PTSD, symptoms of withdrawal, depression and the treatment and prevention of Alzheimers and Dementia.

Cannabis is a member of the Cannabaceae family of plants. Although Indica and Sativa strains are from the same genus, they are known to have distinctly different effects and morphologies- and as a result, different classifications are effective for different conditions.
Indica cannabis plants are widely believed to have originated from the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan, and generally maintain a shorter and bushier leaf structure. They generally provide a more sedative, full-bodied relaxation; effective for pain, insomnia, spasms, and neuropathic conditions.
Sativa plants on the other hand, thrive in warmer climates with origins landing closer to the equator. Their properties can be used to treat fatigue, depression, ADHD/ADD, mood disorders, and others.  We pride ourselves in carrying cannabis strains that express a wide variety of effects and benefits.
